When we use the word stress, usually we are implying that stress is a purely negative thing. But not all stress is the same. To generalize, there are two different types of #stress. Distress and Eustress.

    • Examples of Eu + stress or good stress:
      1. Exercising, swimming, walking, cardio, dancing, yoga, positive energy, etc.
      2. Getting to know someone, connecting, networking, sharing a meal, making a new friend, getting married, a child
      3. Adapting, learning, starting your first year in college or studying for a degree
      4. Performing well at an activity
      5. Preparing, cooking, trying a new recipe, writing a book, decorating for a holiday, developing a new skill
      6. Going on a roller coaster ride, a fun challenge, a scary movie or anticipating a first date
      No, as you can see, eustress doesn’t always feel good. You’re preoccupied, there may be a slight amount of fear to overcome, your heart’s pounding, and you can feel the adrenaline. But in reality, it’s good for you. If you can still laugh or smile when it is all over then it was eustress.

  9. I always loved the “stress” of performing but when I started music school it started to cause distress when there were grades involved. Something about that kind of judgment system just didn’t vibe with me I guess
