How to Express Love through Gifts

Spread the love

A #gift, also known as a #present, is something that you #give to someone you like for example your mom, best friend or other family members. You don’t expect payment or return for it. In many cultures they are concealed, wrapped or packaged in some way such as in wrapping paper or in a special bag or box.

    • My gift is two be happy. And find the right woman two take me fore how iam

    • I love gifts myself, it’s definitely my love language.
I do wonder if those who suffered trauma from it as I certainly did, if that is somehow a trigger to becoming a gift giver like this…In that case is it a Re-action, or simply a way of being that was never understod by others…? Any thoughts on that Teal?
Here are two of my favourites.
For one of my ex’s, a writer that carried three notebooks, a dream journal, poetry book and diary, a bush woman who can use an axe and prefers obsidian over steel, traditionalist homesteader kinda woman, I picked up a leather pillow case, and three plain notebooks, Then I spent the day stitching that leather into a wrapped matching set of leather laced notebooks in natural colours with page tabs for each and pen pencil slot within the wrapping leather piece. So, it’s two attached notebooks as a wrapped system with a third notebook that can be removed, the pen slot fits between the two attached ones. I delivered this in a cake box with roses with thorns left on as per her preferences.
Another favourite, another ex, We found a leather skirt in a charity shop one day walking around london, it was expensive enough that I couldn’t afford it that day, but told the assistant that day that we would come back next week for it with no hint on paying to hold it. Then we went to a few other shops nearby and whilst taking a smoke break to let her walk around by herself, quickly ran back to the shop, paid a reserve and told the assistant what I wanted to do for the next week. I was going to pick it up, but she had to tell us that the skirt had sold already. So we went in the next week, the lady told us it was sold and we went about our weekly window shopping ritual. Again however I went for a smoke break only this time stuffed the skirt into my backpack, it was actually huge, an overlapping series of pigskin leather panels weighing about 4kg, I had to make up some story about what the size was in the bag but I can’t remember what that was. So later that night, I laid the skirt out on the bed as she was in the shower, and when she came out was over the moon.
Both of these gifts were very well received and two of my favourite memories in gift giving.

  1. Dear Teal, I’ ve been following you for exactly 3 years, since December 19 2017. You literally saved my life. Thank you. I’ m grateful. Merry Christmas. Greeting s from the Czech Republic.

    • Yes! Ever since I watched her video on entitlement each upload really is a gift ❤️ she got me good with that one 😅

  2. Gofts are my language as well. As a trauma surviivor, I often can zero in on something for about anyone.. its become a superpower but youre right, I have relatives who didnt know me, and it showed.

  3. I’ve been a receiver of the “regifting” a few times & it’s so obvious that the item was a regift. One had even forgotten to take off the name tag glued to the gift before giving it to me …. I called them out on it by joking “wow you must have really liked this gift in order to give it to me since you love me so much” … It was the most memorable awkward moment of my life. 😂

  4. Most awaited part of every Saturday 😍😍😍😍😀😀Merry Christmas in advance Teal 😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  5. Here’s a question. How do you give a perfect gift to someone that doesn’t like surprises? I want it to be thoughtful but as soon as I ask what they want, it renders the situation thoughtless not thoughtful. Help!

    • I personally think the most thoughtful gift I can get is something with a bit research behind it not an assumption of what I want or like. And inquiry even if direct communicates that for me. I wish people would just tell me what they wanted instead of me guessing and agonizing over it.

    • Perhaps you could learn more about the reasons why they don’t like suprises, and then see if there is a way to give them a suprise gift that is devoid of the element(s) that they don’t like. For instance, if they don’t like suprises because they feel pressured to react in the moment with the giver watching them, then perhaps they would enjoy the suprise gift if it was placed somewhere that they could find it when they were alone, and open it without anyone watching them. Of course this strategy requires that the component(s) they don’t like are avoidable.

Also, if you haven’t already, you could simply be honest with them so that they know what’s in your heart. Let them know that you desire to give them a gift that feels to them to be an express of your deep care and love for them, that every time they look at it it reminds them that they are loved. Also let them know the conflict that you feel as described in your comment. Maybe they will have some insight or suggestions, or at the very least, feel this love and thoughtfulness from you.

And if they are open to it, seek to thoroughly understand their feelings around suprises until you can see it from their perspective. Express empathy and understanding for their position. 1) Being truly understood and cared about is one of the most thoughtful gifts one can receive, and 2) There should no expectation for the following, however, sometimes when we feel fully understood, we let go of a particular resistance in our relationship with the person by whom we feel understood. This would be a bonus and a form of healing.

  6. You are one of the greatest gift we have 🙏🏻🙏🏻😍😍😍🙂🙂🙂☺️☺️☺️😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️

  7. Teal, I love you and appreciate your gift of genuine insight into my life without even being present to speak with me directly. That is something I have always wanted to tell you. I know these videos are for everyone, but you help me every day.

  8. Numerous companies have emerged, that tie in, their product with, re-cultivation of our destroyed eco system….

    Like 8 billion trees

Just a tip if you want to buy something for someone but have no clue..

  9. Merry Christmas to all! I lost my job of 15 years, and struggling along with my children as many others durning this pandemic but I still have Christmas spirit because of the birth of our Lord and Savior. Please pray for me and my children durning this time of uncertainty. I’m losing my hope. If anyone may help my info is on my page. Thank you God bless

  10. this is coming a bit late Teal, I already got all my crappy christmas presents 😅

  11. you can really feel that teal is a in a good mood, she seems to like gifting presents very much 🙂

  12. I have trauma around gifts, I love and hate them. My parents would get my hopes up about a gift I wanted for Christmas, buy me something completely different, put a camera in my face and yell at me for now jumping of joy for the gift, calling me ungrateful.

I however feel very moved when someone gives me something that shows that they really know me. It’s powerful

  13. At work they had us each fill out an “all about me” page, which basically asked us what our favourite things were: fav flowers, fav colours, fav salty snack etc.. I realized how helpful they were when wanting to pick out a gift for a coworker that I made all my family members fill one out back in June. Now with Xmas rolling around I am SO happy I did. Is this cheating? 😆

  14. To the person who is reading this:

You’re amazing stay blessed, stay safe and have an amazing rest of your day!✨❤️
